Parks told Rocktown Now Thursday that the call came in shortly after 12:30 p.m. for shots fired at the 7-11 convenience store on South Main Street.

“The Harrisonburg Police Department immediately responded, along with EMS units with Harrisonburg Fire departments,” Parks said. “We put out a call to shelter in place for area businesses out of an abundance of caution while we looked for any involved parties with the possibility of shots fired.”

Parks added that the shelter-in-place was lifted shortly after. In a release Thursday afternoon, he added that this was an isolated incident with no perceivable threat to the surrounding community.

No further details have been released regarding the robbery or any possible injuries during the incident.
