HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The City of Harrisonburg has released their trash and recycling service schedule for New Year’s Day 2026.

Trash collection that is normally held on Thursdays will be on Friday, January 2. However, cardboard collection will not occur on Friday, and the Recycling Convenience Center and Mobile Unity will not be in operation on Thursday. There will also be no bulk and yard debris pickup on Wednesday, December 31.

City officials also want to remind residents that the new sanitation schedule will begin on Monday, January 5. Bulk and yard debris will be picked up on the resident’s regular trash day when scheduled using ReCollect. Friday pickup will also be shifted to Wednesday. See the city’s map online for more details.
