HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg City School Board discussed a collective bargaining resolution for its public schools during last evening’s work session.

The 14-page resolution outlined the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers as well as Prohibited Conduct and Resolution Procedures.

School Board member Deb Fitzgerald says part of resolution states that members shall not participate in any strike or willful refusal to work.

“We don’t think they will,” Fitzgerald said. “I don’t think HEA [Harrisonburg Education Association] is the kind of organization that would do that, but in that its formal, and stated explicitly in here that they are prohibited from doing that.”

The school board will vote on the resolution at its next meeting in November.
