HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — UPDATE 5:00 PM: HPD officers were dispatched to 7/11 at the corner of S High Street and Erickson Avenue for an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was injured outside of the city and drove to that location seeking assistance.

HPD officers, along with fire and rescue personnel, responded and the victim, a female, was transported to Sentara RMH.

Because this happened outside of HPD jurisdiction, the investigation will be handled by the appropriate agency. Officers will remain on scene for some time assisting the investigation.

The Harrisonburg Police Department posted on their social media page heavy police presence at 7-Eleven at the intersection of High Street and Erickson Avenue as officers, along with fire and rescue personnel, respond to reports of an injured person.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route as this is impacting traffic in the area.
