HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Police Department is inviting members of the community to become a member of the Police Auxiliary Unit.

Lieutenant Todd Miller explains the unit is a citizen volunteer team that supports the operations within the police department.

“We provide all the training that they would need. We have known events that are going on around town that need extra bodies, and we only have a certain number of paid personnel,” said Lt. Miller. “So, it’s a forced multiplier for us where we get those extra bodies out there to keep that event safe.”
