HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Today is the start of National Volunteer Week, and the City of Harrisonburg is inviting folks to get involved in local initiatives.
In a weekend post on social media, the city thanked existing volunteers who they say have served on a board or commission, worked at the front desk of City Hall, or taken part in a tree-planting or stream-cleaning event.
They’re directing any prospective volunteers to their website, where information is posted about nine programs, including the Citizen Academy, the Community Police and Fire academies, and Harrisonburg’s Adopt-A-Street feature.
