HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — It is 10 years in jail for the Harrisonburg man charged in a shooting last year on North Main Street in Harrisonburg.

Alexander Ramos Perez reached a plea deal with prosecutors back in July and pleaded guilty to a pair of felony charges, including malicious assault.

A judge then sentenced the 23-year-old Ramos Perez to 40 years in prison with 30 of those years suspended during a hearing Friday afternoon in Rockingham County Circuit Court. That is according to online records.

Police say Ramos Perez was responsible for the shooting that took place during the early morning hours of March 31, 2024. A 19-year-old Rockingham County woman was hospitalized as a result.
