HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Harrisonburg man has been arrested in Front Royal, VA, in connection with an indecent exposure and carjacking incident that occurred in Harrisonburg over the weekend.

On July 18, officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a male exposing himself inside the Books-A-Million store located in Valley Mall. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on location, but a description and video footage of the male were obtained. Later the same day, the suspect was also reported to have been engaging in indecent acts at the Kroger store, where additional video footage of him was recovered.

On the afternoon of July 19, HPD officers were once again dispatched to Kroger following a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle’s owner had left it running with the keys in the ignition while briefly entering the store. Her children remained inside the car at the time. During that
brief period, an unknown male approached the vehicle, removed the children, and drove away in the stolen car. The children were unharmed.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, the suspect in the carjacking matched the individual from the previous day’s indecent exposure incidents. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Tevin Edwin White.

A description of the suspect and vehicle was shared with surrounding jurisdictions, and officers began to search the area where he was last seen. As they were searching, the Front Royal Police Department alerted officers that the vehicle had been found, and White had been arrested in their jurisdiction.

White has been charged with the following:

  • Two counts of indecent exposure
  • One count of carjacking
  • One count of possession of a stolen vehicle
