HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Farmers Market invites the community for a family-friendly folk tale celebration in collaboration with Massanutten Regional Library on Saturday, March 28.

In the traditional folk tale, Stone Soup, hungry travelers come to a town and teach a community about the collective power of everyone giving just a bit. Local author and vendor at HomeAgain Farm will lead an interactive read-aloud of the tale retold by Heather Forest and illustrated by Susan Gaber.

Following the read-aloud, the community is invited to taste the Market’s version of stone soup, a vegan and gluten free vegetable soup made with fresh, local produce grown by Market vendors.

Massanutten Regional Library will be tabling with library card sign up information, free books to give away to kids, and other library resources. The JMU ArtsMobile will offer various art activities. JMU Sports and Recreation students are offering event support, activities and an activity sheet. Every kid who attends the story time and completes the activity sheet will receive $5 to spend at the Market.
