HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg Farmers Market invites the community for a family-friendly folk tale celebration in collaboration with Massanutten Regional Library on Saturday, March 29.

In the traditional folk tale, Stone Soup, hungry travelers come to a town and teach a community about the collective power of everyone giving just a bit. MRL story time reader and Farmers Market flower vendor Mary Jo Swartzendruber will lead an interactive read-aloud of the tale retold by Heather Forest and illustrated by Susan Gaber.

Following the read-aloud, the community is invited to taste the Market’s version of stone soup, a vegan and gluten free vegetable soup made with fresh, local produce grown by Market vendors.

Massanutten Regional Library will be tabling with library card sign up information, free books to give away to kids, and other library resources.
