HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg Electoral Board has finalized the results from the June 18 Democratic Primary to fill three seats on City Council.
As projected last week following Rocktown Now’s election night coverage, Mayor Deanna Reed won the primary with 817 votes while Vice Mayor Laura Dent had 728 votes. The two incumbents will be joined by newcomer Nasser A. Alsaadun – who had 667 votes – as the three Democratic nominees for City Council, although their party affiliation will not be printed on the ballot per state code §24.2-613.
Independent candidate E. Javier Calleja will also be on the November ballot for City Council.
Additionally, four independent candidates will be on the ballot for Harrisonburg City School Board. They include Timothy M. Howley, Matthew T. Snyder, incumbent Kaylene Siegle and Hazzar M. Pastor Perdomo.
The General Election will be held on November 5, and early voting will start on September 20 in City Hall.
