HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City School Board approved the 2026 Legislative Program during last night’s meeting.
The Legislative Program lists priorities, action items, and Policy Positions to present to legislators in Richmond.
Madison DeSarno, a senior at James Madison University, worked on the program and explained the Legislative Priorities.
“Priorities are the things we’re looking to see done and that we’re actively working towards,” said DeSarno. “Things like the Cooperation with Residential Health Facilities, as Dr. Howley mentioned, we’ve been working towards for a while.”
She continued by saying action items are items they are not actively pushing but will support if there is interest, and Policy Positions are items the program is very supportive of.
Vice Chair Tim Howley made the motion to approve with Andy Kohen second, both being on the Legislative Program.
