HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City Council was presented an update on the Northeast Neighborhood Small Area Plan during last night’s meeting.

The presentation included the historical context of the Northeast Neighborhood, community engagement with the Small Area Plan, and goals highlighted in the plan.

Council member Monica Robinson said this plan does not just represent 2 years, but decades.

“Of people hitting the street, not just us all the time,” said Robinson. “People fighting and scratching and telling the story of Urban Renewal and trying to express what that displacement has done to the community.”

Robinson continued by saying it has put a wall between conversations between the city and the Northeast Neighborhood.
