HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Harrisonburg City Council heard several rezoning requests at last night’s meeting, the most significant of which was a project on nearly one and a quarter-acres on South Main Street.
The owner, Marilyn Pendlebury, wanted a special use permit to go with a rezoning request for 26 apartments as well as up to five thousand square feet of commercial or retail businesses near Purcell Park.
However, after several people spoke against the project during public comment, council member Monica Robinson made the motion to table the request.
“I think just having a conversation to quell some of these concerns would be of benefit to you now and in the future,” said Robinson.
The council then voted to delay the proposal until a meeting next month.
