HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) – Harrisonburg City Council unanimously approved the rezoning of two parcels of land on Smithland Road for the construction of around 55 housing units.
While there had been some homeowners in that neighborhood voicing their opposition, Councilman Nasser Alsaadun explained during Tuesday night’s meeting that this the growth of the city, and we have to do it.
“For those concerned about the green area, I think the contractors will do their best to keep as much of the trees as possible, Alsaadun explained. “
To help in that regard, developers intend to construct privacy fences and curb extensions for on-street parking boundaries.
