HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Harrisonburg City Council adopted a resolution authorizing and approving the Harrisonburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority purchasing and renovating the property located at 227 North Main Street, currently known as Glen’s Fair Price, into a mixed-use development containing residential and commercial space.

Council member Monica Robinson said her main concern was safety, specifically after-hours safety.

“I’ve talked with quite a few people who live at Lineweaver, and the biggest phrase that I heard was, I don’t feel safe there after hours,” said Robinson.

Executive director of HRHA Michael Wong said they have implemented several different strategies and protocols to improve safety such as an updated camera system and a new key fob system.

The request was approved with Robinson voting no.
