HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg marked a significant milestone this Thanksgiving with the 10th anniversary of the Turkey Trot. Over 2,100 enthusiastic participants joined the morning run, contributing to a decade-long tradition that has seen 15,000 runners take part and 10,000 pounds of food collected for those in need.
Mayor Deanna Reed was present for the annual turkey pardoning ceremony, where this year’s fortunate turkey, named Tenny, was spared. Reflecting on the event’s growth, Mayor Reed remarked, “It’s incredible to see how far this event has come—over 2,000 people joined in today.”
The Turkey Trot continues to be a cherished community event, bringing together residents for a morning of fun, fitness, and philanthropy.
