HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW)  The day long fundraising event, Great Community Give, exceeded it’s goal with a total of over 2.1 million dollars.  Preliminary numbers from the Community Foundation of Harrisonburg/Rockingham County indicate that the 7th annual event brought in $2,116,040 dollars with 7,733 unique donors.  157 local non-profits from Harrisonburg and Rockingham county will benefit from the funds.  This year’s participating agencies ranged from daycare centers and little league teams to animal support groups and senior living communities.  According to Revlon Hill, executive director of the Community Foundation, the events organizer, the funds in most cases are deposited directly into the charities accounts with no middle man.

In 2023, 148 nonprofits participated with $2,000,545 raised, compared to the first year, in 2018 when 53 nonprofits participated with $276,820 raised.  According to Amanda Bomfim,Director of Marketing & Program Initiatives, the totals for all seven years: $9,238,288.
