ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — On this Memorial Day, Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered flags lowered to half-staff across the commonwealth this morning in honor of Virginia’s servicemembers who have given their lives in the name of freedom.
The governor’s office announced yesterday that flags on all local, state, and federal grounds should be lowered from sunrise this morning until noon.
The order complies with US flag code that after noon, the flag should be raised to full staff, signifying the continuing fight for liberty and justice.
Institutions are also encouraged to fly the white-and-black Prisoners of War and Missing in Action flag today, in line with Virginia’s own flag code.
