WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — Thanks to a good Samaritan, Waynesboro Police were able to apprehend a man last week following a car break-in.

According to a news release, officers responded shortly before 2:30am on December 11 to the 300 block of Willowshire Court following reports of a vehicle break-in.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, identified as Mohammad Saleh Akbari, being restrained by the good Samaritan.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined that Akbari had allegedly concealed a firearm and brandished it during the incident.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with four counts, including Credit Card Theft and Brandishing a Firearm.

Authorities added a fifth charge after they said he was responsible for a stolen vehicle in the 400 block of North Augusta Street. He is currently being held without at Middle River Regional Jail.
