Geneva Housden Knupp, 94, of Rockingham, VA passed away October 1, 2024 at Sunnyside Presbyterian Home.
She was born December 6, 1929 in Beaver Falls, PA to the late Bernard O. and Dora Bell Mauck Housden.
Geneva graduated from New Market High School where she played basketball. She was a homemaker and loved her family very much. She was one of the oldest members of Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for a number of years. She helped with Broadway Little League and was very active in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. She loved to watch them play softball and basketball. She was a great role model for them. She was kind and brave, and never met a stranger.
On March 25, 1950 she married Marcus Homan Knupp, who preceded her in death September 7, 2013.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ioia; three sons, Richard A. Knupp and wife Barbra, Kenneth Knupp, Steven Knupp and wife Bridgett; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Riner (John), Sarah Turner (Jason), Michael Knupp, Jodi Dobscha (Jacob), Tom Knupp (Anya), Jordan Knupp, Lauren Fridley, Emma Knupp; ten great grandchildren, Haleigh Berry, Addie, Henry, Lucy, and Julia Riner, Matthew, Alex, and Ellie Dobscha, Ryan and Jaxson Turner; special nieces, Gay Dyal, Barbara Cline; special great niece, Kim (and her children).
Her son-in-law, Lou Ioia, her sister, Joyce Dyal, and brother, Eugene Housden, preceded her in death.
Pastor Bradley R. Burke will conduct a memorial service 11:00 AM Saturday, October 12th at Reformation Lutheran Church.
Geneva was cremated, per her request.
