BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s basketball team took home a 60-48 victory over Hood on Friday night thanks to a double-double by Jay Garcia.

How It Happened
• India Dailey got the scoring started as she drilled a three-pointer on a dish by Garcia, but Hood replied quickly to keep the game tight. The two sides traded buckets until Riley Corcoran and Garcia scored back-to-back buckets for the Eagles to make it 9-4. Hood replied with a three-pointer, but an 8-2 BC run to close the frame led by four points from Corcoran made it 17-9 after 10 minutes.
• Hood opened the second quarter on a 6-3 run and closed back to within five at 20-15 with 5:53 to go in the frame. BC called a timeout, and it was a whole different ballgame. Garcia got BC back on the board with a layup and Jaden Alsberry followed with a pair of scores to fuel an 11-0 Bridgewater scoring spree to close the half as a Corcoran buzzer beater made it 31-15 at the break.
• BC pushed the run to 15-0 after buckets from Dailey and Alsberry pushed the advantage out to 20 at 35-15 with 8:02 to go in the third quarter. Hood finally got back on the board three minutes into the quarter and scored on back-to-back trips to get some momentum going. Dailey got the Eagles back and firing with five-straight points, but an 11-0 Hood run brought the lead back down to 40-30 with a minute to play. Abbie Baker scored in the paint to end the run and make it 42-30 after three.
• The Eagles opened the fourth on a 6-0 run with buckets from Corcoran, Garcia and Alsberry to open up an 18-point edge. Hood was able to swing the momentum a bit with a 9-4 run but a trade of scores down the stretch kept the Bridgewater lead intact.

• Garcia’s double-doble led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Alsberry and Corcoran also crossed double figures with 2 points each at seven or more boards.
• Chanelle Lee led all scorers with 20 points for the Blazers. Kourtney Johnson tossed in 11 rebounds and three steals for Hood.
• BC shot 39.3% from the floor and 75% from the charity stripe compared to 36.4% from the floor and 64.7% at the line for Hood. Bridgewater dominated the dominated the glass with a 40-28 rebounding advantage.
