Galen Carter Moses, 82, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at Sunnyside Retirement Community. Born February 13, 1942, in Madison, Wisconsin, and was the son of the late Clayton and Florence Gee Moses.

Mr. Moses was raised in Madison and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. After graduating, he joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in Bolivia, primarily involved with water projects.

He continued his education at the University of Florida, where he received his Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics.

Galen was a journalist with the Gainesville Sun for many years until he began a second career with the Florida Department of Agriculture as a speech writer/reporter. He retired, moved to Virginia, and became a member of the Sunnyside Green Committee. He was also an avid hiker, especially on the Appalachian Trail.

Surviving are a sister, Barbara Hogan and husband, Jim of Harrisonburg, a nephew and two nieces.

The committal service will be private.
