HARRISONBURG VA – (ROCKTOWN NOW) – As skies clear tonight, residents of the Shenandoah Valley should brace for unusually cold temperatures. Overnight lows are forecasted to plummet to the upper 30s across most of the valley, with traditionally colder spots potentially seeing temperatures dip as low as 35 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of West Virginia and Virginia. The advisory is in effect from 2 AM to 8 AM EDT on Saturday. Temperatures in the mid-30s in the valleys are expected to lead to frost formation.  The advisory covers Eastern and Western Highland Counties in Virginia, as well as Eastern Pendleton, Western Grant, and Western Pendleton Counties in West Virginia. From 2 AM to 8 AM EDT on Saturday.  Frost could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation. Unprotected plants may be at risk of being killed by the cold.
