HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison lacrosse players Chloe Bleckley, Maddie Epke, Olivia Matthews, and Adanya Moyer earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday. The honors follow a 2-0 week for JMU (4-1), including a win over previously ranked #5 Florida.

Bleckley gathered Midfielder of the Week, Epke received Attacker of the Week, Matthews was tabbed Freshman of the Week, and Moyer took home Goalkeeper of the Week.

Bleckley receives her first weekly honor from the conference since being named honorable mention the week of Feb. 17. Against Richmond, she notched her first career hat trick while picking up one ground ball in JMU’s 14-10 win over the Spiders. On Saturday against Florida, Bleckley scored two goals and picked up one ground ball in the Dukes’ 17-16 victory in the Crown Lacrosse Classic.

The Attacker of the Week award is Epke’s second of the year, with the previous coming on Feb. 17. The junior recorded one goal, two assists, and 15 draw controls against Richmond, and followed that with four goals, one assist, and 17 draw controls against Florida. Both outings in the circle were season-highs for Epke, who sits first in the conference and second in the nation in draw controls per game (11).

Matthews earns her first laurel from the conference after impressive outings both games. Against Richmond, the freshman pitched in two goals and two assists while winning four draws. She then topped that line against Florida recording her first career hat trick with one assist and two draw wins. All scores came unassisted in a span of just 3:46 in the third quarter to take JMU’s lead from 10-6 to 13-6.

Moyer entered the cage at the end of the first half against Richmond and earned the win for JMU, making three saves on 11 shots faced. The senior then started against Florida and made a career-high 16 saves on 36 shots faced. She also held Florida to 4-of-9 (.444) on free-position attempts.

The #13 Dukes return to action on Saturday Mar. 8 when they welcome the #8 Terrapins to Sentara Park. Opening draw is slated for noon.
