AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Augusta County Public Schools has announced the appointment of Fonda Morris as Principal of Fort Defiance High School effective July 1, 2026.
For 36 years, Mrs. Morris has served Augusta County Schools as an elementary teacher, high school volleyball and basketball coach, elementary assistant principal, and elementary principal. For the past eleven years, she has served the Fort community as Principal at Clymore Elementary and Stewart Middle Schools.
After graduating from Fort Defiance High School, Mrs. Morris attended Bridgewater College earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She would later earn a Master’s degree in Educational Supervision and Leadership from the University of Tennessee. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her dedication to the profession and exemplary service to the school division. In 2023 she was named a Dawbarn Award recipient.
