STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — It appears that the former chair of the Staunton City School Board, who is accused of embezzling money from an elementary school PTA, wants more time before entering a plea in the case.
Natasha McCurdy had a plea hearing schedule for this week in Staunton Circuit Court, but online records indicate that the hearing was continued again at the request of her attorneys. A new hearing was scheduled for May 29th.
McCurdy was indicted earlier this year on two felony charges, including embezzlement of over a thousand dollars.
She resigned as school board chair during a special meeting last May, after Staunton Police named her and her twin sister, Felicia Neil, as suspects in the alleged embezzlement investigation.
