AUGUSTA, Ga. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A former James Madison University golfer is hoping his play so far this weekend will become a tradition unlike any other.
Neal Shipley got off to a hot start in his debut at the Master’s tournament, where the 2022 JMU grad shot one under par during yesterday’s opening round.
He spent three years at JMU before transferring to Ohio State, where he is a grad student competing on the university’s golf team.
His First-Round total was the lowest of all five non-professionals in the field.
However, Shipley shot four over par in his Second Round earlier today.
He currently sits in 45th place. At the end of the day, only the top 50 will advance to play for the green jacket.
