HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – Former James Madison All-American cornerback Terrence Spence has signed his first professional football contract, inking a deal with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League.

Spence will join Montreal at the conclusion of the postseason, ahead of the 2026 CFL season.

In his lone season with the Dukes, Spence was named a 2024 Football Writers Association of America Second Team All-American and a College Football Network Third Team All-American after tying for the Sun Belt lead and ranking in the top five nationally in interceptions (5).

Spence had one pick-six while also tallying 38 tackles, a half tackle for loss, one forced fumble, seven breakups and a pair of blocked kicks.

He was additionally selected as JMU’s first semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award and was a First Team All-Sun Belt defensive back.

Spence joined JMU after a four-year career at Holy Cross (2020-23), where he was a 2023 Second Team All-Patriot League selection and accrued four interceptions, 18 pass breakups and six blocks.
