HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Reaction continues to come in following yesterday Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity.
Police officer and former James Madison University football player Harry Dunn, who defended the Capitol on January 6, said the ruling endangers the nation.
“Donald Trump is still the single greatest threat to our democracy,” Dunn told CBS News on Monday. “It was true yesterday, and it’s true even more, even more, especially after this ruling right now.”
The 6-3 ruling saw all six conservative justices rule that an ex-president has full immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts conducted while in office, but they also ruled that an ex-president has no immunity from prosecution for unofficial acts.
Dunn graduated from JMU in 2005 before working as a Capitol Police officer from 2008 to 2023. He launched a campaign running to represent Maryland’s 3rd congressional district in the 2024 general election, but lost in the primary to state senator Sarah Elfreth.
