CLEVELAND (JMU Athletics) – Five members of the James Madison field hockey program garnered All-Mid-American Conference honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Skyler Brown, Madelief Molier and Alice Roeper all earned spots on the All-MAC First Team, while Ava Drexler-Amey was a Second Team Selection and Puck Jansen made the All-MAC Freshman Team.
Brown was tabbed all-conference for the first time in her career after producing a strong senior season with 19 points (8g, 3a), including four game-winning goals, good to tie for second in the conference.
Molier paces the Dukes in goals (13) and points (28) as a sophomore in just 15 games. The forward is currently 18th in the country in goals per game (0.89) and eighth in all of Division I in active career goals per game (0.84).
Roeper scored 10 goals and dished out five assists for second on the team in points (25) in just 13 games, with only four outings against MAC foes. The senior is one of two players in the league with at least 10 goals and five assists.
Drexler-Amey is a key member of JMU’s defensive penalty corner unit which has turned away 110-of-126 (.873) penalty corners, making countless blocks as the team’s fly. The Dukes’ defensive group has been especially strong in MAC play, holding opponents to 0.83 goals per game with three shutouts. Offensively, the junior has tallied two goals this season, highlighted by the golden goal in a 3-2 double-overtime thriller at Kent State.
Jansen is also a mainstay in JMU’s defensive unit and has contributed two goals this season, scoring her first collegiate goal in her first game as a Duke.
JMU wrapped up the regular season with an 11-7 overall record and a 6-3 mark in MAC play to finish fourth in the league standings. JMU opens postseason play at the Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the quarterfinals against fifth-seeded Central Michigan (10-8, 4-5 MAC) at 11:30 a.m.
James Madison hosts the six-team, single-elimination tournament on Nov. 5-8 at the JMU Field Hockey Complex. The second quarterfinal features No. 3 seed App State (13-5, 7-2 MAC) against No. 6 seed Ohio (5-12, 3-6 MAC).
The 13th-ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks earned the top seed for the Championship after completing the regular season at 13-4 overall and 8-1 in MAC play, while No. 14 Massachusetts will be the No. 2 seed at 15-3 and 8-1.
Admission for the three-day championship is free, and all games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
