HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Deb Fitzgerald announced on her social media page yesterday morning, February 12, 2026, that she is filling out the paperwork to be on the ballet for a seat on the Harrisonburg City School Board.
Fitzgerald previously announced in 2023 she would no longer be seeking re-election after having previously served as chair of the school board for two terms.
According to Fitzgerald’s social media post, three of the seats on Harrisonburg’s six-member board are up for election this year, and members Andy Kohen and Kristen Loflin have decided not to run again.
The third seat is currently filled by Emma Phillips, who will also be seeking re-election this November.
Fitzgerald also announced she will be holding an event at Rootstock Winebar at 86 W. Gay street, right next to Liberty Street Mercantile on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to sign ballot petitions for Senate, Congress, and local candidates, including Fitzgerald and Emma Phillips for School Board.
