SHENANDOAH COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Firefighters prevented a fierce structure fire from spreading to the surrounding area this morning in Shenandoah County.

Units from New Market, Mount Jackson, and Timberville reportedly joined the Shenandoah County Department of Fire and Rescue responding to a house fire on New Market Reservoir Road.

Upon arrival, first responders found the structure fully involved.

Due to the intensity of the flames, crews switched to a defensive attack in order to contain the blaze and prevent further spread to the forest nearby.

The Department of Fire and Rescue posted a note of thanks for their mutual aid partners’ rapid response helping to extinguish the fire and clear the scene.
