Officials say the fire was under control within an hour and that the fire that consumed part of the wooded area will smolder in the area for several days.

Several units were on scene including

  • Engine 52 (Weyers Cave)
  • Tanker 50 (Weyers Cave)
  • Brush 55 (Weyers Cave)
  • Engine 181 (New Hope)
  • Attack 185 (New Hope)
  • Tanker 15 (Bridgewater)
  • Brush 15 (Bridgewater)
  • Response 15 (Bridgewater)
  • Brush 206 (Grottoes)
  • Forestry 4
  • VDOF Dozer

Officials say it was determined that the fire was caused by a tree that had fallen into the power lines, igniting a grass fire.
