Evelyn Lucille Miller High ,75, a resident of Broadway, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. High was born on November 9, 1948 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Howard William and Lucille Wease Miller. She graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 1967 and later attended Madison College and Vo-Tech. She worked for 25 years at Rocco Poultry in the accounting department. She loved to sew, make quilts, garden, and most of all her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed special outings with her girlfriends. She was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren where she played the piano.

On March 24, 1990, she married Ronald High who preceded her in death.

Surviving is a daughter, Tonya Michelle Rexrode Turner and husband Jeremy of Broadway; grandchildren, Cole Garrison Turner and fiancée Katelyn Hodge, Zane Evan Turner (Summer Dean), great-granddaughter, Adelynn Gail Turner; siblings, Glen Miller, Brenda Miller, Frances Mason (Jim), Linda Carrier; sisters-in-law, Sue Brown (Russell), Velda White, Lois High; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Ella Watson (Mike), Kevin High (Trish), Mary Baber; and numerous step-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. High was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Michael Carrier; sister-in-law, Judy Miller and stepdaughter, Christine Heishman

Reverend Jim Hall will conduct a memorial service on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Church of the Brethren. The family will receive friends following the service.

Burial will be held privately for family.

Those wishing to sign the register book may do so on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Sentara RMH Wound Care Center as well as Dr. Waligora with Shenandoah Nephrology to their devoted care of Evelyn during her illness.
