CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (EMU Athletics) – The Royals women’s volleyball team continued their road start to the 2025 season, heading to PA for a midweek matchup against Wilson College.
EMU racked up 42 kills on the night, with nine different Royals having at least one, en route to a 3-1 (25-20, 25-9, 22-25, 25-16) win.

Highlights
Set One: EMU 25, Wilson 22
• Wilson came out swinging in the opening set, taking an early 7-1 lead over the Royals. EMU would then pick up kills from Lindsay Bly, Jada Parker and Emma Rogers, along with a block from Parker and Rogers as well as a Parker service ace, to tie things at nine apiece.
• The teams would swap points to EMU leading 13-11, but the Phoenix went on a 5-0 run to take a 16-13 lead. The Royals would storm back, winning eight of the next 10 points, including kills from Bly and Kenley Smith, blocks from Parker and Rogers and a Felicity Jones ace, to take a 21-18 lead.
• A kill from Wilson pulled the Phoenix within two, but EMU finished out the set, taking advantage of two WC service errors, an ace from Emerson Moats and a kill from Kassidy Meadows.
Set Two: EMU 25, Wilson 9
• Set two started out more closely than set one, with Wilson taking a slight 3-2 lead early on. The Royals responded with an 8-0 run, pulling ahead 10-3, with three kills from Parker and one each from Mckenzie Taylor and Rogers.
• The Phoenix were able to cut into the EMU lead, pulling within three at 11-8 after a block and an ace. But EMU hit the gas on another big run, this time 11-0, to take command of the set at 22-8. Wilson would pick up a kill to stop the Royals run, but EMU would finish out the set, winning the final three points on two Phoenix errors and an Ella Lambert service ace.
Set Three: Wilson 25, EMU 22
• After Wilson College jumped out to a 6-2 lead to start the third, EMU rallied with a 12-1 tilt, taking a 14-7 advantage.
• EMU would keep the seven-point lead lead all the way to 19-12, but Wilson was determined to play another set, as they reeled off seven straight points to tie things at 19 apiece.
• A kill from Meadows, a Phoenix error and a block from Rogers and Sophie Dollyhigh, gave EMU a two-point lead, 22-20. But Wilson College forced a fourth frame, finishing set three with a 5-0 run for the win.
Set Four: EMU 25, Wilson 16
• Neither team could grab much momentum to start the third set, with Wilson holding a small 8-6 lead early on. EMU answered with a 7-3 tilt, using three kills and a block from Meadows and two kills and a block from Smith, to take a 13-11 lead.
• Wilson retook the lead with four straight of their own before EMU said, in the words of the great Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friend!” The Royals picked up their second 11-0 run of the night, this time off four kills from Logan Turchetta, two kills from Rogers and two aces from Jones, to move to match point, 24-15.
• A service error gave the Phoenix one more point, but an attack error wrapped up the set, and match, win for EMU.

What’s Next
EMU will finally get to play in front of a home crowd, when they welcome in McDaniel College to Yoder Arena on Friday night. First serve against the Green Terror is set for 7:00 pm.
