Ellen Faye Sherfey, born on August 25th, 1947, at her childhood home in Mt. Clinton, VA, peacefully departed from this world on February 24th, 2024, surrounded by loving family and friends. Despite the challenges she faced due to cerebral palsy, Ellen Faye surpassed all expectations, far exceeding her life expectancy of 16 years old.
The beloved daughter of the late Albert ”Woody” Sherfey and Lois Harper Sherfey, Ellen Faye was cherished by her extensive Harper family and brought immeasurable joy to their lives. She is survived by her Aunts, Mary Harper Wheelbarger and Jean Smith Harper and numerous Harper & Sherfey cousins.
Growing up in her close-knit church community, Ellen Faye found solace and belonging at People’s Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended Sunday school and worshiped throughout her life. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was evident in her love for singing hymns and finding comfort in the scriptures.
Ellen Faye’s radiant spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of many. She found immense pleasure in attending Friendship Industries and The Arc/The Op Shop, where she formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories.
Following the passing of her beloved parents, Ellen Faye resided at Sunset Ridge for the past 11 years, where she received exceptional care. She made lasting friends with Sunset Ridge caregivers Terry Shenk, Joyce Williams, Mike Taylor, Darlene Billings, Angie Forbes, and Bonnie Kerns. Ellen Faye was especially blessed to have a special cousin, Karen Liskey, who lovingly saw to her needs outside of Sunset Ridge. Karen’s dedication and care provided Ellen Faye with extra support and companionship, enriching her life in countless ways.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Ellen Faye leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering determination. May she rest in eternal peace, cradled in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, where pain and suffering are no more, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew her.
