ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — After waiting 4 months, Elkton resident Greg Hansbrough has found a living liver donor.

Greg was told in October that he would need a living liver donor transplant, or he would die from complications from Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) Cirrhosis.

He appeared on Late Afternoons last fall searching for a Living Liver Donor where he said that back in 2021 doctors discovered he had the cirrhosis of the liver and he explained how the living liver donor process works.

“They would take about 60% of their liver and transport it over to me. They would take mine completely out. But within 8 to 10 weeks, their’s and my new one would grow back to full size within that period of time,” Hansbrough said.

In a post yesterday on his social media page, he stated that he has found a living liver donor, someone who did not even know him or his family and stepped forward out of pure love and compassion.

Greg’s transplant surgery is currently scheduled for February 10.
