HARRISONBURG VA: ROCKTOWNNOW.COM A family of eight is reeling this morning after a Friday night fire caused significant damage to their Harrisonburg home.
Harrisonburg Fire Chief Matt Tobia said in a release that crews responded just after 7 o’clock Friday night to the home in the 700 block of Jefferson Street, where heavy smoke was coming from the second level.
According to Tobia, seven adults, a child, and a family pet were all evacuated safely, and a fire was extinguished in the upstairs bedroom.
Investigators believe that the fire was sparked by an electrical issue, causing an estimated 25-thousand dollars in damage.
H-F-D said that the occupants have landed with other family for now, and the Red Cross is working to help them find long-term housing.
