INDIANAPOLIS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison lacrosse will head to Charlottesville, Va., to face Duke in the opening round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship, the NCAA selection committee announced Sunday night.

The game will take place on Friday, May 9 from Klöckner Stadium with a 6 p.m. start on ESPN+.

The winner of JMU’s first-round matchup will advance to the round of 16 to take on victor of No. 5 Virginia and Long Island University on Sunday, May 11.

JMU earned its 21st berth into the NCAA Championship and its 10th straight after capturing both the regular-season and tournament titles in the American Athletic Conference. JMU holds a 14-4 record (6-0 AAC) entering the NCAA Championship.

The Dukes ranked as high as 11th nationally during the regular season and ranked in every coaches poll during the spring campaign. They enter the Championship ranked 9th in the RPI, its highest ranking of the season.

The Dukes have won opening-round games in four straight NCAA Championships and have won 10 tournament games in the past decade, which included its four to win the 2018 national championship.
