WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) – Augusta County Fire and Rescue responded to reports of an aircraft emergency Monday morning in Waynesboro.

The incident reportedly happened around 9:26 when a small plane taking off from Eagles Nest Flight Services at 249 Aero Drive was forced to make an unexpected landing not long after takeoff.

Spokesperson Olivia Rosolina indicated this particular story ended as well as anyone could have hoped.

“The pilot did a landing off-airport, and he is safe,” Rosolina said. “There were no injuries.”

Upon arrival, crews found the aircraft in a field located behind residences in the 18-hundred block of Red Top Orchard Road.

After ensuring the affected area was free of lingering hazards, emergency personnel cleared the scene around 10 o’clock.
