HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg fire officials were called out to an assisted living facility this morning after an outdoor fire sent smoke inside the building.

Fire Chief Matt Tobia reports on what happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Deyerle Avenue.

“They started a grill outside the building,” Tobia explained. “They had a small fire on the grill, which produced smoke that communicated in through the HVAC system and gave the odor of smoke inside.”

It didn’t take long for crews to remedy the situation and any damage was kept to a minimum.
