ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rockingham County fire officials are investigating to determine what caused a blaze that heavily damaged a duplex in the McGaheysville area.
Chief Jeremy Holloway reports that the call came in shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 9,300 block of Red Top Court.
“They found a single story, duplex, one of the duplexes were heavily involved with fire,” Holloway explained. “Fire was coming out of the back and smoke through the roof. Crews made entry into the residence, and within about 15 minutes they had the fire knocked out and contained. ”
Holloway added that no injuries were reported.
He said one side of the duplex was destroyed while the other suffered only minimal damage and he believes the fire was accidental.
