AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The $6.3 million construction contract for the new Staunton Augusta Waynesboro Animal Shelter is pending award to Harman Construction.
The new shelter will offer an improved and updated facility in the former Verona Elementary School building.
Upon moving to the Verona facility, a new name for the shelter, the Staunton Augusta Waynesboro Animal Shelter, will replace the current name, Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center.
Augusta County will be responsible for nearly 60% of the cost while Staunton will provide nearly 23% of the cost. Waynesboro will be responsible for the remaining 18%.
