HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg city officials and the city’s fire department broke ground at the new Station 5 on Mt. Clinton Pike this morning.
Deputy Fire Chief Matt Tobia spoke at the ceremony about the need for a fire station in the Park View area, and the need to get the project off the ground.
“City Manager Banks and City Council asked us to consider the following question: If you could only do one project that could positively impact the greatest number of people in our community for the next 50 years, what would that project be?” Tobia recalled. “This is that project.”
Station 5 will improve the service and response time for those who reside in the Park View area, which Tobia set helps the fire department meet their goal of a four-minute response time across the Friendly City.
Construction is expected to conclude next summer.
