HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – With the city of Harrisonburg on the verge of a fifth fire station, officials are going to need firefighters to man the facility.
Fire Chief Matt Tobia explained during a recent meet and greet recruitment event that they are looking for individuals who thrive in team-challenging environments.
“Although firefighting may not be for everyone, it’s for way more people than might originally consider it,” Tobia said. “So, we’re currently recruiting, collegiate athletes, individuals who are involved in team sports, individuals who have served in the military, individuals who have done anything as part of a team.”
Those who are interested in working with the fire department can apply through the city of Harrisonburg’s careers page. The city is expected to break ground on new Fire Station Number Five this summer, and the station is scheduled to open off Mount Clinton Pike in the summer of 2025.
