AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Churchville Volunteer Fire & Rescue squad are currently working to remove water from their station after severe storms Sunday night.
Officials say heavy winds caused a significant amount of debris backup in two storm drains located directly in front of their station. The backup paired with significant rain has caused an “unprecedented amount” of water to flood the station.
Personnel, both career and volunteer, have been working since the beginning of this event to remove any and all water from the station, officials noted, stating a water restoration company has been contacted.
“We want to ensure our community members that emergency services will not be impacted by this incident. For health and safety reasons, the Augusta County Career Personnel have been relocated to Swoope Volunteer Fire Company for overnight housing and will continue to answer calls for service,” officials said on Facebook.
