ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County Clerk of Circuit Court Chaz Haywood announced he will be running for the Chair position of the Rockingham County Republican Committee. 

According to a release, Haywood was inspired last night, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the meeting when Dan Cullers offered some goals for the committee that he shares.

Haywood is a former City of Harrisonburg Chair, Rockingham County Chair, Sixth District Vice Chair, the Sixth District Chair and Clerk of Court for the last 18 years.

“It’s been a while since I held a leadership role in the local party, but I’m ready and willing to re-engage and offer myself in this level of service,” said Haywood in his release. “I may be a little fuzzy on some of the procedures of leading a meeting. This again is where we rely on each other’s strong points with a clear focus on mutual respect and a common goal to win and share, as our Attorney General Miyares reminded us, of the “Virginia Way”.'”
