Charles Edward Steven “Skeeter” Morrison, 82, of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home after a long, valiantly fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Skeeter was born on December 20, 1941, in Washington, D.C. and was the son of the late Charles Edward Steven and Janet Spitler Morrison. Skeeter grew up in Bridgewater, VA, where he graduated from Turner Ashby High School. He married his loving wife, Glenda, in 1969, and they went on to have two sons, Brian and Bradley.

Skeeter spent his entire career working in the banking industry. Upon retirement, not ready to completely embrace life as a retiree, he drove cars for the Harrisonburg Auto Auction. He enjoyed being on the road and meeting new people.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed watching all sports. He especially enjoyed playing basketball and softball. He loved boating, classic cars, traveling, and living the RV lifestyle. While raising his children, he spent countless hours boating on the Shenandoah. Later in life, he spent time fishing on that same river. Skeeter loved spending time with his family and friends and loved to enjoy a good meal and tell stories of his life.

Mr. Morrison is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Glenda; two sons, Brian Morrison and companion, Cari Del Fratte and Bradley Morrison, and wife Rae; three granddaughters, Kendall, Julie, Linnea; daughter-in-law, Alison Lavigne; sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Brown; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Skeeter enjoyed the small things in life and had a gift at conversation with friends and strangers alike. While we mourn his loss, we are comforted by the memories we have of a wonderful life well-lived.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with Pastor David R. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
