Carolyn Virginia Shoemaker Armentrout, 94, of Staunton, wife of the late Lawrence Halley Armentrout (Aug. 26, 1927-Jan. 12, 1998) and daughter of the late Owen Stanley Shoemaker (June 4, 1900-Sept. 4, 1942) and Lottie Frances Lowry Shoemaker (June 10, 1902 – March 22, 1988) went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Carolyn was employed at Sears and Roebuck for 36 years and retired in 1989. She was a parishioner of Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren on Boyers Church Road, Rockingham County. She loved working outside planting flowers, gardening and such, crocheting and putting puzzles together.
She resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Alan W. and Sharon Clark Armentrout for roughly four years and eight months prior to becoming a resident at Brookdale Senior Living in Staunton.
In addition to her husband and parents, four brothers, Owen Stanley Shoemaker, Jr., Orville Edwin Shoemaker, Norris Jennings Shoemaker and Bernard Gene Shoemaker; two sisters, Clara Frances Davis and Shirley Ann Reedy; three nieces, Sandra Davis “Sis” Zyra, Janet Davis Potter and Gwendolyn Ann Reedy; four nephews, Owen Stanley “Stan” Shoemaker, III, Barry Jennings Shoemaker, Douglas Shoemaker and Edward “Eddie” Shoemaker, all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, a sister, Marilyn Yvonne Shoemaker and a brother, Hunter Jack Shoemaker; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
