Carey Blaine Thompson, 71, of New Market, died November 4, 2024 at his home.

He was born September 17, 1953 in Harrisonburg and was a son to the late Franklin Lincoln and Vesta Nesselrodt Thompson.

He worked as a truck driver for Adams Construction.  He was a member of Mtn. Valley United Methodist Church near Broadway and also was a U.S. Army Veteran.

On February 28, 1974 he married the former Wilma D. Lawson, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter; Melba D. Mitchell (Jeremie Southerly), of Timberville, a son; Shawn B. Thompson, of New Market, a granddaughter; Brooklyn D. Mitchell (Tyler Payne), of Mt. Jackson, a grandson; Hunter B. Anderson (Madison Saunders), of Timberville, great grandchildren; Brynnlee D. Anderson, Ashlynn Payne, Rhyatt Payne, Tatum Payne, brothers; Larry Thompson (Sheila), of Timberville, Dennis “Joe” Thompson, Sr. (Judy), of Lacey Spring, Dwight “Timmy” Thompson, of Timberville, and a sister; Sandra Williams, of New Market.

He was preceded in death by a daughter; Jennifer D. Thompson.

Pastor Eduardo Carillo will conduct a graveside service 1 PM Friday at Mtn. Valley Cemetery.

There will not be any services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to Grandle Funeral Home, P.O. Box 114, Broadway, VA 22815 to help offset funeral expenses.
